Sterling City is the home of the mighty Eagles and Lady Eagles.  The school is classified as 1A and the school colors are purple and gold.  Sterling City is proud of the school system where students are given the guidance and the opportunity to achieve their goals.  Students at Sterling City ISD receive a one-on-one education that can't be found in the larger school districts. With the positive guidance and encouragement that each student has received in the Sterling City school system, graduates have gone on to   become lawyers, policemen, teachers, doctors, and more.   Computers with internet access are available in each classroom, computer labs at each school, and library.

The Sterling City community values their children and their education. In 2008, a bond election was passed which enabled the ISD to begin constructing a new Elementary and Junior High building which will be approximately 38,534 square feet. The building which will also include a new library and cafeteria,  is scheduled to be completed in 2009.  A new 28,500 square foot gym with a seating capacity of 830 was also approved and will be in the next phase of construction.

Each year in August, the 4th and 5th grade students have the opportunity to attend the HEB camp near Leakey to take part in outdoor learning activities.  It is an enjoyable and memorable learning experience for the students and sponsors.
